Let's Take Christ Out of Christmas

I'm a grinch.  I'm a scrooge.  And here's why.  I say we take the Christ out of Christmas once and for all.  I love watching (c)hristians begin to profusely sweat because heathens are suing cities for having nativity scenes in public places.  One of my other favourites is watching them try to protest stores that say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas".  I don't see why it matters.  Holidays/Christmas are neither happy nor merry.

I read a story from 'black friday 2012' where two people were shot in Tallahassee, Florida.  The gist was as follows: "two couples were arguing and one of the men stared firing, before fleeing the scene in his car."  I think I have made my point.  The 'Christ in Christmas' has been taken out a long time ago.  I believe someone was shot last year as well.  This wasn't an isolated incident. Crazy Americans and their guns or is it simply crazy Americans and Christmas or is it just crazy Americans?  These are questions I ponder on a regular basis, but I digress.

Anyway, I will take back EVERYTHING I just said if someone buys me the tree below.  I will even put a nativity scene under it if you can find me a purple Jesus to go with it! Gawd do I love purple and I would even consider keeping this up all year long.

Oh and feel free to purchase anything from The Purple Store for me to celebrate winter solstice 2012 since I don't celebrate "_mas".  It so happens that winter solstice is also doomsday (again), which means you won't have to pay the bill anyway!

Also, I'd like to go out with a 'bang' if you know what I mean and what better way than with a pair of Purple Go-Go Boots.

  1. But without Christ, there would be no Christmas. I might buy you the Go-Go boots, though, if you were them to next year's Thanksgiving at Mom's. :D

    1. You're only saying that about CHRISTMAS because you have two adorable little girls. Wait until they are teenagers and want thousands of dollars worth of clothes. :) Okay, I will wear them next year along with my Obama shirt. She thinks it's over, but it's SOOO not over!

    1. Hi Paige! Nice to see you here! Girly wasn't what I was going for, but I'm glad you liked it. I was just trying to stay away from purple which is just so difficult for me to do :)

  4. ... and then I spent fifteen minutes shopping for purple things.

I've found that people will leave me alone when they ask, "Do you know the reason for the season?" and I reply, "Santa?"

    1. The Purple Store is a pretty cool place for everything purple, but they are a bit overpriced. I've actually never ordered anything from there. I only dream...

And yes, it's all about the gifts! A to the MEN! :)

  5. Hey, when you decide to fully live the purple lifestyle, you should consider moving out here to Seattle, home of the Purple Store. I saw a help wanted ad for them on craigslist a few months ago. You could become a Purple Associate, or whatever people are called who work for the Purple Store. ;)

I get pretty grumpy about Christmas myself, with the exception of the 30 minutes I spend watching Charlie Brown Christmas show. Come to think of it, there are some purple trees on that show, but Charlie Brown passes them over in favor of the tiny and "sincere" tree. Well, if Lucy had her way, everyone would have a big purple tree instead of a spindly, sincere one.

  6. First time visiting your blog/commenting on it. Those purple boots are surely colorful; not sure what I feel about the purple tree, but hey if you like purple, go for it! Hope someone does get it for you!

I think Jesus would like to take Christ out of Christmas. I totally think Jesus is appalled at the goings on surrounding what was the best present given in him when he was born those 2000 plus years ago. It is just a too materialistic and depressing time of year for so many. Certainly not what his message is all about.

I have to say, I really hope the world doesn't fall apart this winter's solistice. I'm kind of fond of that day (my birthday). However, I'm prety sure I'll wake up the next day still in this world with everything about the same since God's word says no one (and that includes those Mayans) knows when the end will be other than him, so I'll just keep trusting in his truth :)

may your holiday season be a good one for you and yours!
